Normanton Bridge Warning System
A new warning system was recently installed at Welbeck landfill site in Normanton.
Wagons were coming off the tip with the tipper bodies still raised and hitting the central beam on a bridge.
It was decided to install a warning system to indicate when a vehicle was too high to pass over the bridge.
A small bespoke control panel was built utilising a Crouzet Millenium II+ intelligent relay. Infra-red sensors were installed on towers either side of the bridge and warning beacons on the bridge itself.
When an object passed through the beam the beacons were set off. The system automatically reset after a given time. The unit also gave a warning message when the sensors got blocked and needed cleaning and also showed the number of times the warning had been set off.
